Scatterlands
Scatterlands is a digital comic I've been doing with Warren (lots of awesome stuff) Ellis. I couldn't be more exited to work with Warren and doing this strip has given me a chance to play around with my art and try things that wouldn't really fit the tone of Super Dinosaur. If you follow Warrens blog or me on Twitter you probably have seen these already. But the digital collection of the first chapter is now available. Its part of Image Comics launch of their DRM-less digital comics store. Only .99¢ cheap! Go to http://www.imagecomics.com/comics/releases/scatterlands-1

Super Dinosaur 10 Pencils
Whew, been a while since I've updated this. Going to try to get new art up here more regularly.
Starting with issue 9 of Super Dinosaur the art wizard Cliff Rathburn has been inking my pencils. It saves me all kinds of time. I am still coloring the book, so don't worry my free time is still quite limited. Cliff inked me on one issue of Astounding Wolf-Man, but thats my only other experience with an inker. I am quite please with how things are working out so far and it allows us to turn finished issues around faster, so everyone wins!
My "pencils" are actually drawn digitally using SketchBook Pro software on a Wacom Cintiq. There are pros and cons of doing it this way, but the main pro is speed. To get all 'behind the scenes', here are some of my digital pencils from issue 10 then the inked and colored page for comparison.

Super Dino Cover 5 Process
Cover process time! The cover for issue 5 needed to represent our heros fight against the giant and evil Mega-Raptor!
This first sketch was OK but, we decided that more of the raptor should be seen and Super Dinosaur himself should be in his battle armor and more prominently displayed.
Here is the revised sketch. Some color thrown in to help separate the elements.

The first 2 sketches were drawn in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. Its hard to get much detail with it but very useful for figuring out design and composition stuff. This tighter sketch below was drawn by hand over a printout of the Photoshop sketch, then scanneed back into Photoshop where I could easily add perspective grid lines.
That was then printed out in light blue onto the Image bristol board. With a blue Col-Erase pencil I drew the finish detail and all the background stuff.
Then inked it with a mixture of pens and brush.
And finally scanned back into Photoshop for the coloring.

Fun with 21!
Hey ladies in the place I'm callin' out to ya! Or if you are a male I guess I am telling you also. Issue 21 of Wolf-Man comes out today. This issue has werewolves, a girl robot (of course), guns, jumping, bad guys, bad guys jumping, more werewovles and trees. Maybe even an airplane. So run out and make it your own. Ill be back before long with some of the pencils and such for this issue. Below is the cover.
Also, I thought you all should know that I have a new website. Yay! For now, I plan for the new site to be more of a gallery. So I will keep this blog rolling along, hopefully with more frequent posts. But check out the new place anyway. Tell your friends about it and link to it.
